Return of Lobsty

Friends, a miracle! Lobsty has returned from the dead. His transformation included a change of color, from red to blue. Oh, frabjous joy, I'm Happy, with a capital H.

Other things make Jeremy happy...

Weird Squirrels and Playtime

It's only 8:30am and I am ti-ti. Jeremy and I played and played last night and again this morning.

Yesterday, the guys came over to take care of our trees. I am glad because I love to chase the squirrels and I want their homes to be well-groomed. I also don't want the dead tree to spread its disease and kill the other trees. What would I do without squirrels to chase? This is a picture of a very weird squirrel I saw from my backdoor yesterday.

Neighbors

Mommy and Daddy walked around last night inviting neighbors over to our house. I hope they invited my neighborhood BFF, Lulu! (ed. note: yes, we did) They told me about some other new doggies they met, including a black teacup poodle, Fifi. Mommy promised she would never put bows in my hair like Fifi sports, but she isn't past making me wear sweaters in the winter.

No dog pictures today, so you can enjoy this picture of a duck family.

Your Star Wars Reference For the Day

Daddy said Jeremy was playing Obi Wan Kenobi last night. I don't know who that is, but apparently it's somebody who hides under a blankie. Daddy and Jeremy are sci/fi fantasy geeks. I like action & comedies & sports--anything that has throwing or chasing in it!

Mommy Guilt Pays Off!

Jeremy and I got bones last night. I think Mommy felt guilty about being gone all weekend, so she convinced Daddy we deserved a treat.

At first, I was skeptical about mine.

I don't like crunchy things very much. I decided to carry it around for a while so it would get soggy.

Jeremy launched right in and chewed until Daddy took his away to save for later.

I finally got excited about my bone and chewed it all up!

Movies

Mommy and Daddy watched another scary movie last night, Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Luckily they didn't scream, so it was better than Jaws. Mommy is also helping Aunty A. make a movie. She was gone most of the afternoon yesterday and came home smelling like cop. I wanted to go, but she said it was a lot of standing around and pretty boring actually. I never get bored--I nap. That is one of the ways that dogs are superior to humans. We don't waste time saying how frightfully boring everything is. If we're not into something, or we have a little downtime, we just curl up and sleep through it. When it's playtime, BOOM, we're ready to go!

The Vet

Yesterday I got to go on a special car ride, just me and Mommy. She took me to a nice building in the heights but once I got inside the door I could smell that I was at The Vet. Not the nice vet where she takes Jeremy and Auntie Chiv works there and there's a nice guy who calls Jeremy "Mr. J." This is the vet where I go to get SHOTS.

I played a little in the lobby. My choices were a white boxer puppy (pretty big) and a pit bull (huge). I tried to work up the courage to join their play date, but I decided to sit on Mommy's lap instead.

Then the guy came to get us. He gave me a pill and then started sticking things up my butt. Weirdo. Then the doctor came in and started making jokes, but I was in no mood. He gave me shots in my hip and then stuck a needle in my neck and started sucking out my blood. Hey! That's my blood!

By this time I was ready to go home, so Mommy took me back to the lobby. While she was busy paying, I played with a very nice man and a little bit with the pit bull. Then two other dogs came in. One wanted to play but the other one kept growling at me. I don't understand why some dogs don't want to play!

After we got home, Mommy let me and Jeremy out in the backyard. I had to get that awful vet smell off of me but then Mommy got mad and I had to take a bath.

Still, better than smelling like the vet all day.

Fat?!

My trainer told me I am getting chubby. I take that as a compliment, but Mommy explained I've been eating more regular food and none of Jeremy's, which is low fat. It's made me gain some weight. I'm not too concerned, but Mommy said she'd give me a little less food each day. So far I haven't noticed the difference, especially today because we got kitty food. I do know that Daddy loves me no matter what.

Mom At Home

Mommy is home during the day until school starts again. Jeremy and I are doing our best to keep her company. Here is Jeremy guarding the door:

Mommy misses intellectual pursuits, so I suggested a book club:

The problem is, I keep falling asleep.

Swimming Pools

Our pool is little and we can move it around the yard. I've heard that some people have big pools that don't move. They have that type of pool at the dog park and I don't really like it. It's full of dog spit and rocks. Since it's been so hot, it might be nice to lie next to a real pool with a cool drink--perhaps we could install a toilet next to the pool!

Sleepy Sunday

Yesterday Mommy and Daddy went to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I stayed home because there are No Dogs in that movie. How you can have a 2 1/2 hour movie without dogs is beyond me. I stayed home to rest. After so much playtime on Saturday night, I was conked out. We slept in, or actually after a walk and breakfast, we went back to bed until 10:30. Then we all got up and stumbled around because we were still tired. Grandma and Grandpa called this morning to wish Mommy and Daddy Happy Anniversary. They certainly have a lot of those. I think an anniversary must be something to eat.

Here is a picture that shows how much Jeremy missed Mommy when she was gone.

Visiting

We visited Mommy's friends last night. Unfortunately she was busy and didn't take any photos, but I can share a picture of me after my bath.

Her friends have two doggies and a kitty. The kitty, Frieda, didn't like me. I tried to say hi, like I do with Annika, but Frieda bapped me repeatedly. I was like, "Wha?" Books, the Boston terrier, played with me like crazy. He is a very jumping kind of dog. There was also a kid who was learning how to play with dogs. I showed him how to play tug. He was pretty good at it by the end of the evening.

Jeremy got lots of pets and also a piece of sausage. Lucky!

Philosophical Query

Mommy says I get to meet some new friends today. One is a Boston Terrier. I like terriers! Many of my friends look something like this:

Mommy says they're not real, but I can see them, so they must be real, right? I like to bark at them but they usually ignore me. I guess squirrels are more fun... I'll let you know how my playdate goes and try to post some photos tomorrow.

Shorn Jeremy

Jeremy went to the groomer yesterday to get his hair cut. When he came home, he smelled really good. All I wanted to do was sniff his butt! Mommy said his fur smelled good, too, but I didn't notice that. We cuddled on the couch in the evening--I missed my big brother!

I guess Annika missed him too.

Really Sad Now

I know I said Lobsty was dead a long time ago, but I got to play with him until now. Today, Mommy had me say goodbye and then she threw him in the trash. I am so sad. Jeremy tried to cheer me up by playing with me and Mommy tried to distract me with other toys, but it's no good. I may try to sneak Lobsty out of the trash...

Mommy's Home!

It was a long, long week. Daddy tried his best to take care of us and snuggle with us, but I just missed my mom. She was busy cavorting with this character, a kitty her sisters adopted this spring.

Mom missed us too, but she seems to be having an awful lot of fun in this picture at the beach.

Bye!

Mommy is going away for a week, so I won't be able to post. I know, I know, she doesn't let me use the stove without supervision either. In the meantime, you can see another picture of me. Enjoy!

Staying Close

One of my biggest jobs is keeping Mommy company. My contract stipulates that I follow her wherever she goes in the house (I wait outside the shower...just outside), keeping especially close in the kitchen. I also sleep next to her whenever possible. Mommy likes to read, which is a perfect time to get in a little napping while keeping close to her.

Sometimes I get so tired keeping Mommy company that I fall asleep wherever I am. It's a tough job, but the benefits are the best.

Happy 4th

I don't remember this holiday from last year. I know I was born but it's all a bit hazy before Mommy and Daddy brought me home from the loud place with the cages. I don't get bothered by much, so the loud booms will probably be okay. I haven't seen any hotdogs come into the house, so I'm not sure if we'll be getting any extra treats. Yesterday, Mommy, Daddy and Aunty Nessa got ice cream and they didn't even bring us any, so they can't be trusted to know when treats are appropriate (hint: all of the time).

So I'm just hanging out with Snow,

playing like crazy, and resting in between bouts.

Come on over if you want to play too!

Thursday is a good day

Remember how I told you about my trainer the other day? Yesterday she came back and Mommy took a picture of us snuggling.

Jeremy got in trouble this morning. He tried to pull Daddy home because he knew Kitty was eating her canned food and we get the leftovers. Jeremy couldn't wait. He pulled and pulled until he choked himself and threw up. Dummy!

Holidays

Mommy told me that a holiday is coming soon. Usually that means that she is home more and often my friend Snow comes to visit. I LOVE Snow. Also, Friday is my neighbor LuLu's birthday and I am invited to play with her and the other neighborhood dogs. Maybe there'll be cake!

After the holiday, Mommy goes home to visit her family. I am not invited because she has to fly on the plane and I don't even like to ride in the car very much. Maybe Aunt Nessa will bring Bunny over to play and keep me company. This is a picture of the day Mommy and Daddy and Jeremy brought me home. You can see I'm not particularly enjoying the ride.
