Basil

My new friends Jeylan and Johnny came over with a little Lulu-like dog named Basil.  Basil is small and quiet and super soft.  He was also scared, but I kind of liked him.  I really liked Jeylan!

Jeff Buckley tried to oust me from her lap, but I am the master lapsitter, as you can see.  That is Basil sticking out of Johnny's arm.  Isn't he wee & sweet?

Little Brother!

I am both happy and unhappy to announce the arrival of my little brother, Jeff Buckley!  The reasons I am happy include

He likes to play:

He's littler than me so I can boss him around...sort of:

He let me keep my nap spot:

The reasons I am unhappy include

He's a little puppy brat who bites me (no pictures)

He gets a lot of attention because he's pretty cute:
Hmmph.  Well, I guess he can stay...for now.

Visiting: the Good, the Bad and the Downright Ugly

We've been to Auntie Edit and Uncle Jason's place twice this month!  The first time was the 4th of July, or as Jeremy, Maple and Rowan call it, "Horrible Boomy Awfulness Day".  Mommy didn't take any pictures, but imagine a lovely day of lapsitting and a thunderstorm that drove everyone to cuddle together on (or semi-under) the couch.

Yesterday's visit was different:

There was some lapsitting, but mainly to escape the big dogs and the small, redheaded boy who kept picking me up and putting me on his mom's lap (the mom was nice).  As usual, I refused to eat my food in hopes of being given something better.  Pretty much all I got was bread.  Hmmph.

Auntie Edit was mostly busy cooking, and even before that she was cuddling Jeremy (!):

or this guy:

who can't even go out into the yard to potty by himself.  Disappointing.  And Daddy, well he was the worst:

I'm barely speaking to him today.

Post-Vacation Lull

Mommy and Daddy visited Lego for a while and they didn't bring me anything!  Not even a minifig that looks like me.  I am still pouting.  However, it was my duty to help Daddy get over his jetlag, and that's what I did.

Even if it meant I got a bit squashed on the couch.

Dance Party

When Snow's here, we work a lot of playtimes into our day.

Snow thinks it might be time to...you know...

Think about maybe...

Get ready to...

Play!

Weather

It's lovely and overcast right now, so Jeremy and I got into our icky weather poses:

and:

Come on, rain!  My new flowers need you.

Visitor-in-a-Box

A few weeks ago, Mommy brought home a little animal.  She didn't make any noises except for some scratch scratch sounds in her box of leaves.  She ate a strawberry.  She walked outside.  To me, she looked like this:

although I did get a quick closeup before she disappeared.  It was a bit blurry (like Sasquatch!):

I still don't know what she was.  Can you help me?

If It's Good Enough for Mommy...

Mommy sleeps with a t-shirt over her eyes.  Every night.  I know, it's weird.  Then again...

I had to use a pillow, since I don't have t-shirts.  It was lovely and dark under there, so I guess I get it.

I Am Monorail Dog

I've taken up a new post at home: Monorail Dog.  Since I can't sit on the back of the couch anymore (wrong shape), I've decided that the arm will do.  It allows me to face the street and bark at any interlopers without having to get up from my spot.

Quite efficient, don't you think?

Sad Dad

Daddy's got a bad case of the mopeys, so Jeremy and I stepped up to help him.  I tucked myself up on his butt:

while he watched some TV.  Jeremy's always ready to cuddle him on the floor, but Mommy never took a picture.  This morning, I helped Daddy get ready for work:

Cuddle Power Activate!
Jeremy was standing by with backup:

Our cuddling worked and Daddy went off to work.  Yay!  Oh wait, that means Daddy's gone to work.  Boo!  Come back and cuddle some more, Daddy.

Weird Sleepy Places

We all have our odd nap locations.  Some people even try to fall asleep while driving (I'm looking at you, Daddy!).  Here are a couple of ours:

Looks normal, I know, but Jeremy almost always chooses to sleep with or on one of my toys.  Here's another example.

A little while ago he was sleeping on two piles of dirty laundry.  So weird.

I, on the other hand, like super plush and cushy sleepy spots.  Either that or cuddled up with Daddy.  Here is the cushiest, plushest of recent naptimes:

Ha!

Don't Do Drugs!

I'm really worried about Monkey.  I think he might have a...problem.

Don't do crack, Monkey!

So Tired!

I am sooooo tired of winter!  It's cold on my toesies when I go out for walks.  It drizzles cold rain on my fur.  It makes Daddy & Mommy put my sweater on me (ucky pattooie!).  I think I'm going to curl up under the blankies until it's over, which should be tomorrow.

Doggy Party

Auntie Nessa brought over Bunny and Hunter for a weekend-long party.  We've had good walkies, lots of naps and some playtimes.  This morning, Mommy captured the living room, strewn with fun (or toys).

Here's Auntie Nessa tempting me with Octi-puss.

She started whipping it around and my tail followed suit.  So much fun!

This!

This is how we cheer Daddy up:

I'm sleeping on his butt, Jeremy's by his side, and he's watching Tropic Thunder.  I guess we could have brought him a drink or something, but I think we did a great job!

Strange Smells

Mommy came home this weekend smelling funny.  On Saturday, she and Daddy came back smelling like this thing:

I knew sort of what it was because that's what Patrick and Henry's little brother smells like: poop and milk.  Delicious!

Sunday evening, she came home smelling like this:

I'm not sure what those things are, but I know they're not prairie dogs.  What could they be?

Winter is Almost Over!

However, it is still chilly, and therefore good sleepytimes weather.  I finally got the small couch set up the way I like it, and I slept there all morning.

Here I am in curled up position:

And stretched out:

Note how I'm using the couch as a back rest.  Here's another angle:

Jeremy has another sleepytimes spot, which happens to be just below me.  Maybe he's protecting me in my sleep.

It got sunny today and we can't wait to go on our walk.  I hope my soggy pine cone dried out!

Need Pine Cones, STAT!

This has been a long, long winter.  I don't mind the cold weather, but the pine cones went missing months ago.  Every day I search in the usual places and only once in a great while do I find one.  Sometimes Mommy resorts to stealing some from the forest at work because I am so pitiful.

Whenever I do find one, I chase it for a long time, but eventually I end up chewing it up.  Yesterday I found a piece of one I'd only part-way chewed, so I got to chase it again until it fell apart.  Mommy took some pictures:

and a very similar, but different in one important way photo:

Can you spot the difference?  In the first, I got distracted and looked to my left.  In the second, laser focus on Pine Cone!

Guest Bedroom

Auntie Nessa often comes to stay, and when she does, she sleeps in the Guest Bedroom.  It has a nice big bed that Mommy usually keeps covered with a soft blankie.  When Grandma and Grandpa visited last summer, I would sneak in there for naps!

Auntie Nessa hasn't slept here for a while, yet Mommy noticed that the covers were messed up.

As if someone without opposable thumbs had tried to get under the covers.  Here's another angle:

Mommy suspects one of these two hooligans.

Oops!  That's me and Jeremy.  Hmm...I bet it's the cat.  Heehee!

'SCold

Is the cold gone yet?  Not only do I have to tolerate The Sweater (ucky patooie!), it's, well, cold.  Jeremy doesn't seem to mind it, although he did hide his nose under the furniture:

I had to cozy up with blankies.  Many, many blankies.

And pillows.

Late Start

The weather has been colder than usual this winter, which is yuck because SWEATER.  However, today Daddy stayed home until almost 8am, which meant we got to enjoy a cup of coffee together.

Looks like Daddy needs some more coffee, hmm?

Sugar

We have a new foster dog visiting.  She's kind of big and slow, but I guess she's okay.  Here's a picture of her:

She looks like Jeremy, sort of.

What I really like about her is what she brought with her...toys!

Sugar didn't seem to mind, so I unpacked her toy basket for her.  I tried to get her to play, but she wasn't interested, so I turned to Mommy:

Sugar barks when I play, which I can't figure out, so I ignore her.  Maybe she'll play with me soon!
